We were approached late last year by a client to code a quote engine for people looking for GPS vehicle tracking systems. At the beginning the project did not seem overly different from anything else that was being done in the tracking industry and similar industries. As time went on the project developed into something quite different from the average quote engine.
The site is called TrackCompare.co.uk. The site starts by taking three simple pieces of information from the visitor.
- Number of vehicle you wish to have tracked.
- What category of tracking product you are after. In other words vehicle tracking, trailer tracking or pet tracking etc.
- Your county
The visitor then clicks compare now and they are taken to a comparison table which based on those three questions gives the user products that are available in their area to the number of vehicles they are tracking and the category of product they are after.
The user then uses the buttons from the top of the table to select different payment methods. This will in turn change the products that are available.
What really makes this website so much more than an average quote engine is the fact that the site calculates the equivalent daily rate based on the monthly charge and the initial setup cost and display the information in an easy to use comparison table. This helps the visitor see what the true cost of each product is while comparing not only price, but also the features available to each product.
There is also an advanced search feature which gives the user yet further criteria to search by. This enables the users to fine tune their search by choosing which features they require their vehicle tracking to have.
This website could revolutionise the online selling of vehicle tracking systems. Time will only tell how well it will compete in the market against other more established websites.
What is for sure is that it is a project which we are very proud of and feel that we have designed something which challenges the traditional way of comparing tracking product and indeed any leasing product.
