Ecommerce and Website Brands are Now The Biggest - 14/2/2007

It has been a trend for several years now that brands such as Google have taken first place as being the worlds most famous and recognised brands. Such companies as YouTube and Wikipedia are now also part of the top 5 most well know brands according to a survey of 5000 people. This just goes to prove that ecommerce is here to stay and is growing at a ridiculous pace.

People now look online to find services and products rather than look in the yellow pages. This now only means that the Yellow pages is a dying brand, but that other successful brands such as Play.com, Amazon, eBay, YouTube, Wikipedia, Money Supermarket and many other very successful website operated businesses are also doing very well indeed.

Even smaller more localised and specialise companies are doing very well out of the Ecommerce boom and it is set to slow down either. It is believed that more and more website orientated brands will be knocking traditional brands out of the top 50.

That said many traditional businesses have embraced the internet such as Tesco, Sainsburys, MBNA, Comet, PC World and a whole host of others.

Although much of this may not come as a surprise, what is surprising is that two of the companies in the top 5 are non profit making websites. User content managed websites such as YouTube, Wikipedia, MySpace and Friends United are all on the increase and this builds opportunities for advertising and affiliate marketing.

With all this growth on the cyber world the surrounding industries are also thriving. These industries include search engine optimisation which is the art of getting websites indexed in search engines.

Also website design which is where any ecommerce operation starts.
